Well not to keep kicking the dead dog but I believe this was closed from being listed under the wrong thread topic.

Hey, I'm Hugo The Horrible from the BRA guild. Thank you for this post that you made about us, it is very nice! I'm glad to see that some people enjoyed the fun and festivities that our guild attempted to bring to the table.

Basically BRA is a guild based mostly around PvE, so we are constantly doing missions together, and killing many monsters. Due to the large amount of PVE'ing, we acquire unecessarily large amounts of extra items. The items that are better than the average item yet not substancial enough for us to want to keep and use we decide to stock up on, and then give away to people. Rather than selling them to the merchant for 20 gold or whatever, and we do this for a number of reasons.

1. Most importantly, it lightens up the community. We were all participants in the Guild Wars beta, and the community that the game had back then was amazing. Everyone enjoyed playing the game so much, there we practically no scammers, and everyone had a great time. We want to do this to show people that getting that extra 10 plat tonight reall doesn't matter. It's just a game, and you can play it as such casually and still get where you want to be.

2. It improves the economy. Even if it is ever-so-slightly, it will help people see that items really don't have to cost so much. I see shields that were obtained at the collectors go on sale for 15,000 gold and up. It really shouldn't be that way. By us giving away chaos axes, dyes, shadow shields, etc... it shows people that ok maybe these things aren't worth that much.

3. It gets our name out there as a friendly guild. Our guild is a very fun guild, and I am really happy that I belong to it. We always try to mix things up and have a blast doing whatever we're doing, and I'd like it for other people to know that too. Ultimately I want people to recognize our guild tag, and give us a /wave or say something to us in outposts or towns. This really just goes back to the first point, which is recreating that caring community that existed in the betas. I carried an entire conversation with a stranger today using nothing but emotes, and had a blast doing so. Made a friend as well :-) Stuff like that makes my game-time much more fun.

These giveaways aren't on a constant schedule or anything. Basically whenever we feel that our inventories are too full, we arrange to have a giveaway in a couple of days. I personally haven't given enough stuff away, so I think we will be having one again. Possibly next weekend, but I'm not 100% positive. If we do decide to do it though, it will always occur in Lion's Arch, district 1.... and we will advertise it in the fansite forums.

I would also like to let people know that these events are made to have fun. Getting free items is obviously why people come, but I believe that having fun is why they stay. I had so many people message me the other day about how much fun they had, and how it felt like summer camp and everything. That made my week. So please bring a positive attitude to these events and we can all have a great time.

Anyways. thank you for the post Mhenlo, and I look forward to seeing you again in our next event!

For those that don't know me, I'm elk; another BRA guildie!. Just wanted to reiterate Hugo's words and pass out another Thanks regarding the post. As Hugo indicated - this is to act against the post release changes to GW along with make some new friends and having a good time. We had all sorts of games - triva, emote contests, hide and seek, capture the runner, Simon says or WAR etc. Alot of us in BRA want this to stay a "game" and enjoy it the way we were use to in the BWE's. Too many folks take things seriously or are out for their own good/ profit and when it comes down to it - why spend the time in a game doing this when it happens enough in RL (personally I look forward to games to get away from this sort of BS). With enough time and effort you could have max $$ and all the armor & equipment you could imagine (just that most people are too impatient) so with that in mind - what value do any of the items really have? Hopefully with enough time and exposure, the BRA guild will actually start to make a difference in improving the community (and that is one of our ultimate goals from things like this). We also mob low level districts and give out advice, help answer questions, give tours/guides and help on missions (depending on your request - we often ask that you make a donation for the service at the end based on your descretion - meaning we allow you to decide what you feel is fair for what you got) which can be arranged from simple (just get me there!) to elborate (skits/ jokes/ out of the way tours/sites etc.).

As Hugo mentioned, the next give away will be more advertised on the forums than in-game as it has been in the past so keep an eye out for our next announcement. If you see a BRA member - give a shout or a wave and add us to your friends list for future use (questions, help, trading etc.).

BRA - we're a bunch of boobs but we're supportive!

Edit: Please note that Guild Wars doesn't appear to be concerned with multiple guilds having the same tags. Because of this - there is another BRA guild out there (our guys have seen the tag a few times). My concern here is that someone may mistake the two guilds and I don't want another group hurting/hindering our efforts or misleading/taking advantage of anyone. So if you're not absolutely sure that the person your talking to is a Black Rose Assassin - than please feel free to add myself or Hugo to your PM list and drop us a quick line. We'll be sure to confirm wheither the person you're talking with is actually part of our guild or not.
